談起這首歌曲，Ed Sheeran 透露：「在一個月內，我得知我的妻子出了身體狀況（妻子懷孕中檢查出腫瘤）、摯友的突然離世（好友Jamal Edwards於2022年2月時，因突發心臟病而去世），突如其來的消息令我喘不過氣，非常的壓抑和絕望。」　除此之外，還有歌曲被告抄襲官司纏身，光是聽到這，真真想一般人何止喘不過氣，已經有茫然絕望的感覺了吧……但他選擇正面迎戰並把最真實的自己給了音樂，這一次他決定不再為了創作而創作，而是為了「純粹地表達現在的自己」為內容的一個專輯。

真真第一次聽到這首Eyes Closed時，一開始以為是情歌，但仔細聆聽歌詞，咀嚼後，不禁眼眶泛淚，那種深深的思念是淡淡的、沉沉的、像是訴說一般，猶如梗在喉嚨的魚刺，又像溺水的窒息感，發不出聲音只能閉上雙眼默默流淚，是的，沒有人能真正地準備好「失去」，在失去親朋好友、甚至是一段戀情的當下，我們時常感到錯愕驚慌，而真正難熬的是 從此之後要一個人獨自生活、獨自面對，那些歷歷在目的過往畫面侵襲著思念者的大腦，那種難受與思念巧妙地融入了歌曲中，是值得聆聽的一首歌曲，流淚沉澱後，要記得看看周圍正在愛著你的親朋好友，繼續往前走 ​​。 ​
